The H.R. MacMillan Space Centre is screening three of the classic works by pioneering French filmmaker Georges Méliès. A Trip to the Moon (1902), The Astronomer’s Dream (1898), and The Eclipse (1907) will be shown in the Planetarium Star Theatre on June 7 starting at 7:30 p.m., accompanied by a live original score by musician Owen Connell.

This week in 1980 the Haida community celebrated the completion of Bill Reid’s masterpiece, The Raven and the First Men, at UBC’s Museum of Anthropology. Capilano University instructor George Rammell was part of the team that assisted Reid in creating the sculpture. Bill Reid playlist.
North Shore filmmaker Marie Clements (The Road Forward) will receive the B.C. Impact Award at Vancouver Women in Film’s Spotlight Awards on June 19 for her work. Clements, a Canadian Métis playwright, performer, director, producer and screenwriter, just finished shooting her first dramatic feature, Red Snow, for CBC TV.

Yuno performed “No Going Back” live in the studio at WFUV Public Radio earlier this month. The track is the first single off his debut Sub Pop album, Moodie, set for digital release on June 15. He will perform in Vancouver on Aug. 31 opening for Superorganism at the Imperial.
