Small school model succeeds

Brockton offers a small school environment where students learn in small class sizes and thrive in an inclusive, caring community.

Brockton offers a small school environment where students learn in small class sizes and thrive in an inclusive, caring community. Our small school model facilitates inquiry based learning, allows for individual attention and encourages our students to participate in all aspects of school life.

As an International Baccalaureate World School we embrace the concepts of 21st century learning and strive to offer a customized learning experience for every student. Learning in small classes provides teachers and students the space to get to know each other, to explore new ideas and to provide and receive feedback. This connection that teachers have with their students creates an inclusive and safe learning environment where different learning styles can be explored and various learning tools and techniques can be employed.

At Brockton we recognize that students achieve their full potential when they are provided with the learning strategies and techniques that match their unique strengths. Teachers take time to get to know their students' preferred learning styles and develop programs that suit their needs. This is achieved through skilled curriculum planning and flexibility to accommodate students' talents and interests.

The Brockton experience enables all students to be successful and to excel through engagement and connection with their learning.

Technology is an effective means of engaging today's students. Our teachers are experienced in using it effectively in the classroom to enhance the learning and encourage students to find personalized and stimulating ways to approach their work.

The Enrichment program, the tiered MYP French program, the World Music Program, our athletics teams, the student council, Discovery courses, and access to internationally acclaimed competitions such as the Math Olympiad are examples of the multitude of opportunities available to our diverse student population.

Providing feedback and keeping parents informed on their children's progress is a key part of the Brockton experience. All students are taught how to set goals for themselves and are given strategies in achieving them.

Our reporting process includes a comprehensive evaluation of students' progress and individual teacher-set goals. The three report cards are followed by teacher-parent interviews and student-led conferences. The student led conferences are an opportunity for each student to demonstrate their understanding of key concepts and showcase their work - a highlight for all Brockton families.

At Brockton, students embark on an educational adventure each and every day; where they are encouraged to inquire about the world around them and to achieve their true potential by being active learners and global citizens.
