Restaurant recognized for noodles

CHEF Hung Taiwanese Beef Noodle restaurant recently received the Diner's Choice Award in the category of Best Taiwanese Beef Noodles at the 2013 Chinese Restaurant Awards.

A recent press release from the company noted the beef noodle house made its debut in Metro Vancouver after 14 years of operation in Taiwan and winning three championships in the Taipei International Beef Noodle Festival between 2007 and 2010. It was also a winner for one of the 2012 Critics' Choice Signature Dish Awards.

The Chinese Restaurant Awards is in its fifth year, and has increased in participants; selections placed online from Nov. 12, 2012, to Jan. 4, 2013, generated more than 34,000 votes, noted the release.

Fairchild Restaurant Group, the company that manages the restaurant chain, noted in the release that the eatery's namesake, chef Hung, was scheduled to attend the ceremony to accept the award and to provide a cooking demonstration and food samples to those in attendance.

The chain is headquartered in Richmond and is scheduled to open a location in Shanghai in March. The West Vancouver location of the franchise is located on Marine Drive.
