WELCOME spring into your home with these blue beauties for the Easter weekend.

These little eggs are very easy to assemble, they are a great activity for the kids to get involved in on Easter Day.

Materials:

White eggs

Egg colouring kit (or food colouring)

Orange and blue tissue paper

White craft glue

Scissors

Black fine-tip felt pen

Artificial straw (available at craft stores)

Begin by laying out some newspaper for a work area to colour the eggs. I found food colouring works just as well for dyeing the eggs if you cannot find an egg colouring kit. Follow the directions on the colouring kit or fill a plastic cup with 120 ml of room temperature water combined with 15 ml of white vinegar. Add 20-30 drops of food colouring and mix well.

Before you colour your eggs you will have to hard-boil them. Let the eggs cool completely before immersing them into the coloured solution.

Carefully place your eggs inside the cup and let sit for five to 10 minutes depending on how blue you would like your eggs to be.

Remove the eggs from the cups and let dry for 30 minutes or more.

Once the eggs are dry, take your fine tip black felt pen and draw the two eyes on the pointed end of the egg.

Cut out the little wings from your orange tissue paper as well as the orange beak. Carefully glue the wings and beak to the egg and let dry. Repeat with the other eggs.

Arrange the artificial straw into a nest shape and place the blue birds inside the nest.
