Brandi Halls visits with grandmother Emily Baker, who will celebrate her 102nd birthday on Saturday, Dec. 10. Baker is the widow of late Squamish Nation Chief Simon Baker, to whom she was married from 1933 until his passing in 2001. Baker’s daughter Faye Halls said that her mother “continues to be the glue that holds the Baker family together” and noted her tremendous legacy, which includes 39 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Friends in the community can offer birthday greetings by addressing a card to the West Vancouver Care Centre.
