Eighth-graders visit national parks for free

Every Grade 8 student in Canada is receiving a free pass to any Parks Canada-administered national park or national historic site.

Every Grade 8 student in Canada is receiving a free pass to any Parks Canada-administered national park or national historic site.

Nature Canada in conjunction with Parks Canada and the Historica-Dominion Institute has created the program My Parks Pass so that children across Canada can have free access to the country's 42 national parks, 167 historic sites and four national marine conservation areas.

The pass will allow students to do activities like take a guided tour of Stanley Park or get up close and personal with the marine life at the Vancouver Aquarium.

The pass is valid for a whole year and when students use their passes, family and group passes receive an instant discount.

Any Grade 8 student who was missed during distribution can request a My Parks Pass by contacting Parks Canada National Information Service at 1-888-773-8888.
