FOR anyone who is interested in how fashion designers come up with their creations, this book will give you a view into that world.

Sharing their thoughts, inspirations and processes, the designers speak openly about their passion for their work.

The book title refers to a brief, which is the starting point for many designs. It is the description that brings into play the parameters a product will be based on. It will respond to many questions such as who is the product for, how will it be made and what materials will be used.

Fifty designers provide a look behind the curtains at their creative process. Each one gives a short profile and describes the type of person that they design for.

Some designers refer to a real person - like Chris Liu who calls fashion stylist Britta Burger his It girl. Others fill in the details on what their It person would be like and what kind of lifestyle they would have.

Next they go into greater detail on where their inspiration comes from and how that inspiration impacts their work.

Finally they take us through their creative process, showing a design from start to finish. The creation is illustrated with photographs and drawings culminating in a picture of the completed outfit worn by a model.
