Michael Vlessides' new book The Ice Pilots is based on the reality TV series now airing on History Channel and Global TV which follows a group of pilots in Yellowknife flying WWII-era propeller planes year-round in the Canadian North.

Jump for joy

Grace, 12, and George Owen, 3, get airborne Saturday at Boulevard Park in North Vancouver after the first snowfall of the year at lower elevations. Tobogganers and boarders improvised some moguls in order to add some thrills to their rides.
