He’s prepping his sleigh for a one-night spin around the globe – but first Santa has to learn how to spin a basketball on one finger.

That’s partly what’s on display in a video shared by the Harlem Globetrotters that shows star player Thunder Law visiting Grouse Mountain ski resort last week in order to drum up excitement for an upcoming batch of games in Vancouver involving the revered exhibition basketball team.

In the video Law can be seen parading around the mountain Dec. 13, interacting with guests, doing tricks, and giving a clinic in fancy ball maneuvers at Santa’s Workshop on Grouse.

“We’re here at Santa’s Workshop at the beautiful Grouse Mountain. Merry Christmas everybody!” Law states in the video.

The Globetrotters, a basketball franchise founded in the 1920s famous for its players’ ball handling prowess and use of an iconic whistled-version of "Sweet Georgia Brown” as its theme song, are slated to play the Abbotsford Centre on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 31 at 2 p.m, and Vancouver’s Pacific Coliseum on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 1 p.m.

“I think they just had a lot of fun and they engaged with some of the people who were on the mountaintop and they even gave away some tickets to the upcoming game,” said Grouse spokeswoman Jodi Westbury about the Globetrotters recent visit.

At the beginning and end of the video, Law can be seen helping Santa spin a basketball on his finger, much to the excitement of onlookers. Law also presented an honourary Globetrotters jersey to Santa.

“From what I can see they thought it was a lot of fun. The player that did the visit had a lot of personality,” Westbury said.
