Are you in this picture?
And if you won’t admit it, would you help the North Vancouver Archives identify any of the young skaters wearing these fantastic skating costumes?
Founded in 1952, the Capilano Winter Club was the first family winter club in B.C., and held the first summer skating school. Skating and curling were the initial focus, with hockey, tennis, swimming and other activities following.
The club hosted the World Figure Skating Championships in 1960 and the North American Figure Skating Championships in 1963. The Capilano Winter Club amalgamated with the North Shore Winter Club in 1977, who purchased the CWC for $2 million.
The Time Traveller feature offers a weekly glimpse into the North Shore's past, courtesy of North Vancouver Museum and Archives.
