In the early 1900s, Hasting’s Creek was dammed to create a booming area for shingle bolts. The site was also used as a swimming hole, referred to in records as Urquhart's Swimming Pool, Holtzman’s Pond and Prince’s Pond.
In 1941 the dam was rebuilt and refaced to enlarge the swimming area. This new modern pool was named Princess Pool. Throughout the 1940s the Vancouver Sun newspaper sponsored children's summer swimming classes at the pool.
The pool had closed by the early 1970s due to pollution issues. Do you remember swimming here?
