Reader Jim Roberts sent in these great photos of a river otter and a harbour seal enjoying "a smorgasbord of surf smelt" that were actively spawning near the seawall in the Ambleside area on Monday.
Roberts explained in an email that "this was in clear view of hundreds of folks enjoying the seawall yesterday, but most likely walked right by without knowing what was happening less than 10 metres seaward."
