Behmard Dentistry believes genuine connection is the best medicine

With a focus on prevention, transparency and emotional wellbeing, Behmard Dentistry is proving that comprehensive dental care is about much more than just one’s teeth

When Behmard Dentistry opened on the North Shore in 2004, it wasn’t to keep up with the growing trends of cosmetic spaces or spa-style dentistry. It was to return to what Dr. Behmard calls the medical roots of the profession: compassion, trust and the true essence of what patients need for their dental health and well-being.

"Behmard Dentistry is not a franchise but the embodiment of an approach to patient care: all options are clarified so that each patient can distinguish between the 'must-haves' and the 'nice-to-haves'; the needs and the wants. Then choices then are their own," says Dr. Behmard.

A medical approach to dental care

Dr. Behmard studied human physiology at UBC and originally planned to pursue medicine. But dentistry, with its direct relationships and long-term care, ultimately won him over. “It felt like the best of both worlds—science and patient connection,” he explains.

Soon after graduating in 2001, he realized that the industry was shifting. Cosmetic-focused practices were booming, but something was missing. “I didn’t want to follow the path of spa boutique dentistry,” he says. “So I opened my own clinic based on integrity and care.”

That clinic has since grown into an established team of dedicated professionals, including respected North Shore dentists Dr. Joyce and Dr. Shearon, each with over forty years of experience in West Vancouver. More recently, they’ve welcomed Dr. Nobahari to the team, rounding out what Dr. Behmard calls a “tight collection of professionals” unified by the same values.

It’s not surprising that Behmard Dentistry has the highest rated google reviews in the community.

Treating people, not (just) teeth

People with dental anxiety tend to think avoiding the dentist will solve the problem — though it can often be less about the actual procedure and more about uncertainty. “There’s fear, yes, but even more than that, people don’t know who to trust,” Dr. Behmard says. “They worry whether they really need a crown or a root canal. That doubt adds a whole new layer of anxiety.”

Dr. Behmard believes that restoring trust is just as important as restoring teeth. “We have had patients who needed sedation at first. But after a few visits, when they felt safe, the anxiety disappeared. No more sedation. Just calm, comfortable care.”

Health beyond the smile

There’s a growing body of evidence linking oral health to overall health—something Dr. Behmard and his team take seriously. “Most people don’t know that 30% of women lose at least one tooth in the five years after menopause,” he says. “Hormones, heart health, lung function—it’s all connected to oral health.”

That’s why the clinic doesn’t just fill cavities or place crowns. Every patient receives what the team calls a personalized preventive plan—a strategy designed to maintain a disease-free smile for life.

“We don’t sell commodities like fillings and crowns,” Dr. Behmard says. “We have an expert team of professionals that provide the highest level of dentistry, whether it is implants, veneers, crowns, or full mouth reconstruction, but built on integrity, prevention and with long-term health in mind ”

Community at heart

Behmard Dentistry’s impact extends far beyond the treatment rooms. They are not just caretakers of dental health but dedicated members of the community. Each year, Dr. Behmard, Dr. Joyce, Dr. Shearon, Dr. Nobahari and the Behmard Dental team volunteer a day to offer free dental care to vulnerable members within our community. “We partner with North Shore Family Services and Covenant House to provide treatment for those who’ve fallen through the cracks,” he says.

This mission is deeply personal for Dr. Behmard, who was raised by a single mother himself. “We understand what it’s like to face challenges and this is our way of giving back,” he says. “Our aim is to put smiles on people’s faces, not just because their teeth are whiter, but because they’ve found a place they can trust.”

For Dr. Behmard, the North Shore holds deep personal significance. His wife, Dr. Maryam Zeineddin, has been a committed family doctor and business owner in the area for 20 years  and together they have raised their daughters here. They believe that trust within the community is built by extending kindness and compassion to every patient. At Behmard Dentistry, their goal is to foster genuine connections and empower patients to take charge of their dental health and overall well-being.

Backed by a dedicated team and a philosophy rooted in compassion, the clinic continues to grow—while staying true to its original purpose.
