North Shore youth went head to head at the annual Parkgate Soapbox Derby on Sunday, June 14. The event took place on Carnation Street, between Berkley Road and Emerson Way, outside Seymour Heights elementary.
For several months leading up to race day, the young participants had been designing and constructing their own soapbox vehicles as part of a United Way of the Lower Mainland-funded program facilitated by Parkgate Community Services Society.
The event also featured games, music, a concession stand, a Father's Day card-making station, an inflatable slide and more.
