The following is a selection of volunteer opportunities from various community organizations, made available through Volunteer North Shore, a service of North Shore Community Resources Society.

Harmony Arts Volunteer The festival takes place Aug. 3-12, highlighting the talent of North Shore artists, sharing the value of arts appreciation and creation, and building community pride and participation. Experience the arts through exhibitions, demonstrations, concerts, art market and hands-on activities. The festival offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for all ages and skill levels.

Farmers Market Volunteer A variety of positions are available at the markets: social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), children’s activities, videographer, writer, market set up, and tear down. Volunteers are also needed to deliver posters to community centres, coffee shops etc. in both the Lonsdale area and in West Vancouver.

Big Sister Seeking women (minimum age 19) who are interested in developing a positive and fun mentoring relationship with a young girl (ages seven-17). Each Big and Little Sister match gets together once a week for two-four hours to do fun activities they both enjoy such as going to the park or beach, doing crafts, baking, watching movies, talking, and simply just “hanging out” together.

City Park Stewards Join the City Park Stewards and Edible Garden Project in Loutet Park to tackle the invasive blackberry, ivy and holly plants next to Loutet Farm Saturday, July 28 from 9 a.m. to noon. The meeting location for this event is in the parking lot at Rufus Avenue and East 14th Street.

Office Volunteer Volunteer will open and run the office independently from 1 to 4 p.m.; help people that have questions; talk about Deep Cove and the surrounding area to tourists.
