Sutherland Secondary Grade 10 students Shiqi Xu and Naiara Peruchena hand out free salads to students during Youth Week this week as part of the school’s Food Awareness Campaign events hosted by the Meatless Monday and Sutherland Garden clubs.
The City of North Vancouver recently proclaimed May 15 Meatless Monday, joining Vancouver in its support of a global campaign to raise awareness of the impact of food choices and overconsumption of meat. The effort is supported by the Vancouver Humane Society. The students have also initiated Meatless Mondays in the Sutherland cafeteria as part of the ongoing program.
