Holiday Cheer: Toy drive brunch for the Christmas Bureau

A group in West Vancouver has been gathering every holiday season for the past 26 years to collect toys for families in need

Over the past 26 years a group of us have gathered during the Christmas season at a home on the North Shore to collect hundreds of new, unwrapped toys and donations to assist low-income families and youth, seniors and people living with disabilities.

In the beginning we all had young children, and now they have all grown up and we are seeing a new generation of young mothers join us in the hopes of taking over for us one day.

The unwrapped toys are picked up by North Shore Family Services and made available to North Shore families at their location in North Vancouver. It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to see each other and kick off the season.

Many of the ladies who attend have come from difficult backgrounds in their own life, and leave with a wonderful feeling that they have made a difference for less fortunate families during the holidays.

For more information about the Christmas Bureau or if you would like to make a donation, please contact Family Services of the North Shore.
