Hearts painted on North Vancouver School District head office to show front-line support

A show of support for health-care workers and other essential service workers has been put up at the North Vancouver School District’s head office.

On April 16, a few staff members of the school district’s Education Services Centre located at 2121 Lonsdale Ave. painted hearts on the face of the office building in order to show support and express solidarity with the Lions Gate Hospital health-care workers who are spending busy days and nights travelling up and down the Lonsdale corridor for work amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

The Coast Salish Welcome Pole outside the building, called Kayachtn, served as the focal point for the project, according to the school district, with the colourful, cheerful hearts positioned  across the second, third and fourth floors of the building in order to look like the Welcome Pole’s outstretched arms are releasing the hearts into the sky.
