Gary Prendergast, Don Millerd, Ed Hayashi and Chic Tanaka look at a historical photograph of the Great Northern Cannery, a multi-ethnic fishing village that operated from 1891 to 1968.
On Aug. 16, a group gathered in West Vancouver at the former site of the cannery, now a Department of Fisheries and Oceans research station, for an invitation-only showing of Prendergast’s documentary film Through the Gate: The Great Northern Cannery Story.
