Argyle Secondary students won a $5,000 grant for local charity as part of the school’s initiative to get youth involved in contributing to their community.
Grade 10 students Daniel Tyson and Campbell Gardner won the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative grant for their charity of choice, which was the Harvest Project, a North Vancouver- based non-profit that supports local families in need.
The YPI is an international program that provides grants for charities chosen by students. Argyle has participated in the YPI program for eight years through their Planning 10 course.
According to planning teacher Sean Soper, Argyle is currently the only high school in the district offering the program, but YPI is looking to expand to include more schools on the North Shore.
