It’s a good time for some dryland training.

West Vancouver’s Aquatic Centre will be closed until Sept. 24, as the pool area undergoes annual maintenance.

“The shutdown allows for the maintenance work that we perform every year to keep the Aquatic Centre in good operating condition for the enjoyment of all users,” said District of West Vancouver spokeswoman Donna Powers.

Upgrades this year include refreshing the change rooms with new tiles and paint, and improved partitions and lockers.

“The good news is that what people really want at the Aquatic Centre is more change-room space, and the change room refresh is the first step towards the expansion of the universal change rooms which will take place next year,” said Powers.

Also being replaced during the closure, as part of capital renewal, is an accessible pool lift, water curtain feature and some jets.

The Aquatic Centre’s steel beams will be refinished, as part of the maintenance, to protect them from corrosion.
