The West Vancouver Memorial Library continues its free Friday Night Concert series tonight with The Fretless, a Canadian fiddle foursome that tackles traditional folk music with a modern touch. The quartet, who are known for their enticing live shows, were recently nominated for a Canadian Folk Music award for their latest album, Live from the Art Farm.
It’s pumpkin-everything season! Visit Lynn Valley Elementary tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the school’s annual Pumpkin Patch. The event will feature a cornucopia of family-friendly activities, from carnival games, a crafts table, prizes and, yes, a pumpkin patch.
While we’re on the festival train, the third annual Haunted Harvest Fair at Sutherland Secondary is taking place this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event, taking place rain or shine, will include haunted houses, a craft fair, bouncy castles, games and more. The event features several low-cost activities that give the kids an opportunity to fundraise for the Sutherland family of schools, including elementary schools, Ridgway, Eastview, Brooksbank and Queensbury.
Blessed are those that walk on four paws. Animal lovers are invited to bring along their beloved four-legged friends and winged pets to St. Andrew’s United Church in North Vancouver this Sunday for a Blessing of the Animals event starting at 4 p.m. The event celebrates St. Francis of Assisi, born in the 12th century, who is the patron saint of animals and the environment. On St. Francis’s feast day, animals are blessed to celebrate his love of animals.
