SAR co-ordinated search for Richie Stelmack sees folks spread out through trails and roads in town on Sept. 24.

Hundreds of people have answered the call to search for a Squamish teen who was last seen on Sept. 21.

Throughout today (Sept. 24), the volunteers who gathered on the Quest University field at 10 a.m. will be grouped with Search and Rescue volunteers to help find Richie Stelmack. The 15-year-old went missing after being last seen in his bed at home in the Highlands area.

First responders have also asked that everyone in town check their own yards, sheds, woodpiles and the like.

Rescue manager B.J. Chute told The Chief that anyone who sees Stelmack should identify themselves, approach him and call 911.

If he does not respond, rescuers should then call 911. “We don’t know why he left or where he left to go to,” said Chute.

Chute also extended his thanks to the community for the massive outpouring of support.

In the late afternoon, SAR said that the search will continue into the evening and over the weekend if need be.
