Two teens missing since Sunday were found safe Monday afternoon by an RCMP helicopter in the Copper Canyon area near Chemainus.

Dylan Deroy, 18, and Jordan Phillion, 15, were located at 2:15 p.m. Monday and are returning to their families in Langford, said West Shore RCMP Cpl. Chris Dovell.

The pair were in Dylan’s truck, which got stuck on a back road near Copper Canyon.

Dylan and Jordan’s parents reported them missing to West Shore RCMP on Sunday when they didn’t return home. That sparked a search by RCMP, search and rescue volunteers and an RCMP helicopter.

Police had pinged Dylan’s cellphone and determined that on Sunday at 11:34 a.m., the phone was used near the 300-block of Gibbins Road in North Cowichan, but there was no cellphone activity after that.
