A nine-year old North Vancouver youth has raised more than $2,000 for charity by selling her paintings.

With school closed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Kate Morrissy has had more time on her hands which she’s dedicated to working on her paintings.

After Morrissy’s mom posted pictures of some of her daughter’s paintings on Instagram, there were inquiries from people wanting to purchase them.

Morrissy had the idea – with the help of some adults – to sell her paintings through an online auction and give the money to charity.

The auction raised more than $2,000 from 25 bidders.

Morrissy has since donated the proceeds to the BC Cancer Foundation and the Vancouver Aquarium.
