St. David’s United Church celebrates new elevator

The elevator arrived at the church through financial assistance from the province and a $20,000 Rick Hansen Foundation accessibility grant.

“I’d like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to St. David’s United on the unveiling of your new elevator,” stated Rick Hansen, in a release announcing the new elevator.

“It’s wonderful to see that members of your church have stepped up to identify and remove barriers for people with disabilities. Physical barriers in the built environment also have an impact on the elderly, those with a temporary disability or even a young family navigating a stroller. When everyone can get through the door and participate, we all stand to gain in the community. You’re all difference makers for joining our movement in creating a world that is inclusive and accessible for everyone.”
