Pink LemonAid: Verve Hair Lounge and Art Gallery will host a Pink LemonAid stand and Fun Day, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 17, in conjunction with Party at the Pier. The annual community event takes place at the foot of Lonsdale Avenue and on the waterfront pier. Salon staff will raise funds for Plan Canada's global initiative Because I Am A Girl by hosting a kiosk on the pier that will feature sales of baked goods and popcorn, face painting, hopscotch, double dutch, gratitude wall and art show. Art by Bunny Tonner will be on display at the salon, nearby at 227 Lonsdale Ave. Proceeds from the sale of Tonner's art will be donated to the charity. Info: www.plancanada.ca/ becauseiamagirl.

New and preloved designer brands will be on offer at the first-ever High-End Recycled Fashion Market, next Saturday, July 16, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at St. David's United Church, 1525 Taylor Way in West Vancouver. A number of vendors will be selling high-end, authentic designer clothing, jewelry, handbags and accessories, according to the market's organizer Louise LeBlond, of Boutique Le Charisme Inc. Portobello Petite is taking over the Rize Pop Up Shop (Kingsway and East 10th Avenue in Vancouver) for the month of August. Five Portobello West regulars - Elroy Apparel, Jenn Ellis, Street Cat Designs, North Vancouver's littleMoSo and Beta5 Chocolate - will be showcasing and selling their wares at the unique retail space. Portobello Petite will shut its doors at 6 p.m. on Aug. 27 as the vendors switch locations for the Portobello West fifth anniversary market at the Creekside Community Centre on Aug. 28.
