The 2012 Coho Festival is sure to be the best ever!
The Coho Festival will be held over two days this year. The two days will be very similar with a few differences.
Saturday, September 8th will be the West Vancouver 100 Coho Day in honor of West Vancouver's 100th Anniversary. The day will include the famous Coho Salmon Barbeque, the Coho Beach Bar, Kids Park, Main Stage with great entertainment, Squamish Nation Village, Stewardship Zone and the West Vancouver 100 Pavilion. The traditional "Blessing of the Salmon" will be performed on this day as well.
Sunday, September 9th will include all of the above with a larger Stewardship Zone, the Coho Walk, Coho Run and Coho Swim. The Coho Salmon Barbeque has been the cornerstone of the Coho festival since it started 33 years ago. This year we will be featuring Coho salmon provided by Albion Fisheries. This salmon is "Ocean Wise" certified. Wonderful organic salad and fresh BC corn on the cob are being provided by Whole Foods Market.
The Coho Festival will be a zero waste event. This year the Coho Festival will have organic or recyclable materials on site. As good stewards we want our event to help the salmon and the planet.
The continued focus of the Coho Festival is the environment. The festival is primarily a fundraising event for the Coho Society to assist North Shore stewardship group's efforts to rebuild and maintain salmon habitat. It is also an educational event where we can all learn how to be better stewards of our communities and our planet.
I hope to see you here!
