"I could not be prouder of everything the Foresight team has accomplished," says Foresight Canada CEO Jeanette Jackson.

B.C.-based clean-tech accelerator Foresight Canada is 10 years old this year, and is marking that occasion with an annual report that lists its accomplishments to date, including $1.5 billion in venture capital raised and nearly 8,000 jobs created.

Launched in 2013 with a single employee, the Foresight accelerator originally focused solely on B.C.’s clean-tech sector, but has since branched out to offer support to clean-tech startups across Canada, and now employs close to 50.

The accelerator supports clean-tech startups with programs that include tailored coaching and mentorship, education opportunities, industry and investor connections and special events and challenges.

Since it was formed, Foresight estimates the companies it has supported have created 7,780 jobs and attracted $1.5 billion in investment capital. It estimates that the companies that have been assisted by Foresight programs have generated revenue of $439 million.

Foresight had a banner year for fiscal 2022-23.

“In 2022-23, Foresight supported more companies than in previous years, saw new records for revenue generated by Foresight ventures which exceeded our wildest expectations, and hosted more clean-tech-focused events than ever before,” the organization says in its annual report.

During that period it had 2019 companies “accelerated” through its various programs, and saw $360 million raised by Foresight accelerated ventures.

“While there is a long, long way to go, I could not be prouder of everything the Foresight team has accomplished across this incredible year of growth and increasing impact,” said Foresight CEO Jeanette Jackson.
