Lakes, Whyte LLP has deep ties to the North Vancouver community, with many of its team members growing up in the area and graduating from local high schools.

For 35 years, Lakes, Whyte has operated as one of the few full-service law firms in North Vancouver that provides a wide range of legal assistance with business law, real estate, estate, wills, and litigation.

“Most of us are North Shore residents who grew up on the North Shore,” says partner John Lakes, who attended Highlands, Balmoral and Delbrook Schools.

“We’re more of a people’s law firm than big corporate stuff. We deal with regular people, their wills, estates, real estate, and small businesses.”

Located in Lonsdale, Lakes, Whyte is committed to providing straightforward and sound advice on all legal matters.

Lakes, Whyte is fiercely proud of where they come from and work hard for their clients from the community.

As a firm that is strongly dedicated to the community, Lakes, Whyte appreciates other local organizations that contribute to making North Vancouver a great place to live. North Shore Rescue is a prime example of an organization that enriches the community for everyone.

In his recreational time, Lakes enjoys swimming, cycling, skiing, and hiking with his family in the surrounding wilderness.

“Most of us at the firm do a lot of hiking,” Lakes says.

“While we don’t have any first-hand experience with North Shore Rescue, we always appreciate that they’re there if we need them.”

Lakes has seen the organization evolve from being primarily volunteer-based with little resources to a high-tech operation.

“Lots of our clients are very appreciative for what they’ve done over the years,” Lakes says, noting that many have specified in their wills that a portion of their estates be left to North Shore Rescue.

“They’re an important part of the community and make everyone feel safer.”
