“We work hard to create a no-pressure, respectful approach to our guests,” says Christopher Sage, General Manager of Jim Pattison Volvo of North Vancouver. “It doesn’t matter whether a guest comes in to talk to our sales department or to bring a vehicle in for servicing, we want them to enjoy the same great experience.”

Calling potential customers “guests” is a first step to that approach.

“We don’t want to assume that someone is coming in to buy,” Christopher explains. “We prefer to approach people as if they’re just here to visit, as they would a Luxury hotel.”

Conveniently located on Marine Drive in North Vancouver, Jim Pattison Volvo of North Vancouver  encourages its sales and service departments to work as a team.

“Our service department knows that without sales, there would be no cars to service and the sales team understands that if the vehicles aren’t serviced properly, there would be no repeat sales. We share every single customer comment with all employees.”

“We regularly conduct “Performance Dinners” to recognize the entire Jim Pattison Volvo of North Vancouver team for their accomplishments.”

The approach has been amazingly successful—business at the dealership has increased tremendously over the previous year.

“We’re dealing with very informed guests,” Christopher says. “Today, customers do detailed research online before they come in. We have to have knowledgeable sales staff and well-trained service technicians so that when a guest asks a question, we have the answer.”

Asked what he looks for in potential sales and service personnel, Christopher doesn’t hesitate to respond.

“It’s not enough to want to be profitable,” he says. “We hire people who are passionate about the Volvo brand and excited to work with our guests with a caring attitude.”
