Wolf Pack charges into PJHL championship series

North Van will take on Langley in best-of-seven final

The North Van Wolf Pack will play for a PJHL championship following a 4-1 semifinal series win over the Grandview Steelers.

The Pack wrapped up the series Saturday night at Harry Jerome Arena with a tight 1-0 win over their rivals from Burnaby. Lucas Barker scored the game’s only goal late in the first period and then it was a goalie show the rest of the way, with North Van’s Niklas Hoem making 28 saves for the shutout win while Grandview’s Cale Dolan took the loss despite stopping 45 of the 46 shots he faced. It was the second straight 4-1 series win for the Pack, who topped Ridge Meadows in Round 1 before getting by Grandview in Round 2.

The Pack’s top line of Justin Lee, Jacob Fournier and Lucas Barker has led the way through the first two rounds, scoring five goals each through 10 games and combining to put up 41 points. Defencemen Jacob Callas has led the way from the point, putting up 11 points through eight playoff games.

The Wolf Pack will now take on the Langley Trappers in the PJHL championship final. The Trappers, who joined the league as an expansion team in 2017, earned a ticket to the final by knockinf the defending champion Delta Ice Hawks 4-1 in their semifinal series.

The schedule for the final has not been finalized.
