North Vancouver field hockey goalie gets the nod for Team Canada

North Vancouver native Ethan McTavish was named to the 2018 Field Hockey Canada U-18 men’s national team for the Youth Olympic Games starting this weekend in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

McTavish is a member of the West Vancouver Field Hockey Club and is slated to start in goal for the Canadian team. McTavish will be joined by two other representatives of the WFVHC, as the club’s technical director Geoff Matthews will be Canada’s head coach and Margaux Brand, WVFHC’s umpire co-ordinator, will be one of the FIH umpires for the Games.

The tournament runs Oct. 6-14. Canadian athletes will have to adjust to the warmer, humid temperatures in the sub-tropical capital city.
