The Windsor Dukes junior football team will battle for the junior AA provincial title Saturday at famed BC Place stadium.

The junior Dukes, the last North Shore team standing this season, will take on the G.W. Graham Grizzlies from Chilliwack in the final which will kick off in the big house at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Windsor has gone on a charmed run through the playoffs after finishing the regular season with a 2-2 record. The Dukes started postseason play with a 38-27 win over Vernon’s Clarence Fulton before scoring a huge 36-26 win over previously undefeated College Heights from Prince George Saturday in Kamloops Nov. 21.

They’ll face one more stiff challenge in the Grizzlies, who outscored their opponents 169-36 while compiling a 4-0 record during regular season play before racking up to straight playoff shutouts, knocking off Ballenas 40-0 in the quarterfinals and John Barsby 38-0 in the semifinals.

The Dukes were also the top North Shore team at the senior level, making the provincial quarterfinals before falling 28-0 against Robert Bateman. A pair of Dukes seniors made it onto the provincial AA all-star team. Mitch Townsend was selected as an all-star offensive lineman while Jeremy Sinclair was named a defensive all-star at the linebacker position.

At the AAA level a pair of Handsworth Royals earned provincial all-star honours. Theo Benedet was named an all-star offensive lineman while Keelan White earned an all-star spot as a receiver.
