Don Chendo supplies authentic Mexican food products to 90% of the restaurants in Metro Vancouver.

When your pantry is short of the makings to create your signature burritos, or perhaps your favourite tacos, the convenience of Don Chendo on the North Shore is two-fold.

Not only does the wholesale and supply store stock all the high-quality Mexican products and ingredients you'll need, but if your hunger is more imminent, your time more limited, they have ready-to-go dinner solutions, too. You can buy your ingredients—to make your dish another day—and enjoy a prepared meal tonight.

"Our dinner solutions, like our tamales and enchiladas, are just heat and serve," says Zaira Herrera, owner of Don Chendo.

They offer three types of tamales, and their locally made Enchiladas (mole  and green sauce ) is a ready-made meal to enjoy within minutes.

"We also have cost-effective family kits, with 900 grams of cooked protein, either carnitas (seasoned pulled pork), barbacoa (beef), or pastor (slow-cooked pork shoulder, the most popular), 72 tortillas, two types of salsas, green and red, refried beans, and bag of churros. There's no preservatives and they make mealtime super simple."

Herrera adds, "People can't find the authenticity of the products we provide in grocery stores. They don't carry the authentic dry chilies or spices from Mexico that we have."

Their private label of dry chiles is the finest quality, plus, their eponymous line extends to spices, dry beans, grains and their prepared foods.

Don Chendo chorizo remains a big seller, and their newest addition, vegan gluten-free chorizo made with soy is already a hit. "We also have pico de gallo, freshly-made guacamole, and seven-layer dip," says Herrera.

Try a hibiscus water, a traditional Mexican beverage made with dried hibiscus flowers, for the perfect refreshing and healthy summer drink.

Look for their large selection of authentic Mexican snacks, from gluten and non-gluten chips, spicy chips and salsas, to sweet and savory treats, and stock up for your next picnic or Netflix binge.

"Whether you’re running a convenience store, a restaurant, or a catering business, our wholesale Mexican snacks are a great addition to your inventory," Herrera says.

Wholesale distributor, anniversary celebration

As a wholesaler for restaurants, retail stores, and supermarkets, Don Chendo has been a local, trusted source for Mexican food products since 2014, and conveniently delivers throughout Greater Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, as far as Chilliwack, and for online shipping throughout B.C. and Alberta.

"Our two stores allow us to serve the community better with great prices," explains Herrera. "People can come in and buy wholesale in a retail setting and get a good deal."

Sunday, July 9 marks the first-year anniversary for their North Vancouver location, 1440 Rupert Street, which carries more than 2,000 quality Mexican food products. "We're celebrating by offering a 10% discount all day to everyone who mentions this article," reveals Herrera.

"We live in North Vancouver and love our community," she says, "and I'm so thrilled our store is doing well."

"From my heart, we're so grateful to our customers; thank you for receiving us with open arms."
