When Martina joined Mulgrave School in Kindergarten, she had no idea what her future would hold. Years later, when she entered Grade 9, Martina’s next steps truly began to solidify, and her passion for making a meaningful impact on the world became clear.
During Martina’s time at Mulgrave, she became increasingly interested in sustainability and environmental issues, particularly in renewable energy. She was an active participant in the school’s Environmental Sustainability Council, helping lead and promote initiatives that encouraged the community to become agents of change.
“I started to realize the need for action, so now I am going into environmental studies with a future passion for doing law,” she says. “The law I want to practice helps protect and fight for vulnerable people because if no one can help them, then who will?”
Her path was shaped by the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, along with guidance and advice from her university counsellor and loved ones. As a 2025 graduate, Martina is now preparing to begin her studies in Environmental Studies and Political Science at Boston College.
Support from dedicated university and career counsellors, who begin working with students in Grade 9 and continue through to graduation, plays a vital role in helping Mulgrave students uncover what matters most to them. That can mean discovering a specific academic program, unlocking new passions through extracurricular activities, or forging personal connections that resonate deeply.
University and career counsellors meet with students and their families to refine their post-secondary plans and also support applications for universities and scholarships. This journey of discovery takes into account a variety of factors that make university opportunities the ‘right fit’ for a student.

For example, Nolan, a Mulgrave graduate from 2025, was recently awarded the prestigious Schulich Scholarship, valued at $120,000. He was nominated by his university counsellor and is the fourth graduate of Mulgrave to receive this award.
“This scholarship not only provides financial support for my post-secondary education but also connects me to an inspiring network of like-minded, STEM-focused entrepreneurs and innovators,” he says. “I’m really excited to collaborate with and learn from other Schulich Leaders as I work toward my goals of making meaningful contributions in science and technology. The access to this community will give me mentorship, inspiration, and the chance to grow my ideas in a truly supportive environment.”
Throughout their students’ time at the school, Mulgrave aims to provide the best learning experiences through an emphasis on high-impact teaching strategies and personalized education.
The IB program goes beyond strong academics; it is a holistic approach where the development of an individual’s character, personal skills, qualities, and values sits at the heart of what it does.
Mulgrave School’s all-encompassing approach enables students to discover their interests, build meaningful skills and forge their own paths. By combining academic excellence with dedicated support, the school helps shape confident, compassionate leaders for the future.
A financial assistance program, available for students entering Grades 7 to 11, helps make a Mulgrave education accessible to families on the North Shore and beyond by removing financial barriers. This program reflects a commitment to providing an inclusive educational experience for all families, regardless of their financial circumstances.
Applications for the 2026-27 school year are now open. Families are invited to visit Mulgrave School and find out more about their personalized approach to education. Learn more at apply.mulgrave.com.
