If recent history has taught us anything, it’s that politics can be an arena where derision and division become commonplace.
Where shouting the loudest rules the day.
Lynne Block firmly believes in a different way forward.
“I focus on issues, not party lines. I was elected to represent all the people in my riding, regardless of their beliefs or politics,” says the first-term West Vancouver-Capilano MLA. “I will always put my constituents first. When someone in my riding needs help, my job is to support and advocate for them.”
Rooted in education
Though only first elected under the Conservative banner in 2024, Block’s roots in the community and the education sector run deep. Her career in education spans teaching, training and facilitating professional development at the elementary, secondary and post-secondary levels.
Block was in her second term as a West Vancouver School District trustee when elected and now serves as the Official Opposition Critic for Education.
“I ran provincially because I’ve seen firsthand, both as a former educator and school trustee, how provincial decisions directly impact our everyday lives and I wanted to make a positive difference,” Block says. “I wanted to help my constituents have the quality of life they deserve.”
Focused on local priorities
And like a teacher’s to-do list, Block’s tasks ahead are many – with a concerted focus on public education, affordable housing, improved transit and senior care.
Block is advocating for better traffic management, improved public transit and infrastructure upgrades to relieve pressure on key routes. She’s also fighting back against transit service cuts, particularly the proposed elimination of the 250-bus route.
“We also need reliable service and improved first- and last-mile options,” Block says. “I’m advocating for expanded rapid transit and for a predictable, long-term funding model that doesn’t leave smaller communities behind.”

Housing and healthcare
On the housing front, Block remains steadfast in her commitment to affordability and transparency that would prevent unending rent hikes and other issues affecting tenants who face long-term rental instability.
Health care accessibility, especially for seniors and people with complex medical needs, is also a pressing issue among Block’s constituents.
“I continue to advocate for reduced wait times, improved funding access and my team and I help constituents navigate systems like ICBC and out-of-country medical funding,” Block says.
As for the issues that are perhaps nearest to her heart, Block sees numerous gaps in the education sector. To that end, she’s focused on improving inclusive education funding, reducing waitlists for student assessments and ensuring greater transparency and stability for families and educators. Block is also pushing for greater support for students with special needs, both financially and logistically.
“I’m also calling for the return of letter grades for students in Grade 4 and up, to give parents and their children clear, consistent benchmarks for understanding how their children are doing in school – and most importantly, where they may need support,” Block says.
Beyond her work in Victoria, Block is acutely aware of the importance of transparency with her local constituents – whether that’s helping to navigate the myriad of government ministries, or simply having an open door to talk.
“No matter how you voted, I’m here to serve you,” Block says. “I am deeply grateful for your trust, and I want to help you in any way I can.”
