Yarn critic needles knitter

Dear Editor: To Mr.

Dear Editor:

To Mr. Gavin, regarding your letter, Yarn Bombs Need Detonating (July 11, North Shore News): When you ask, "Have you seen the quality of some of the graffiti that is defacing the city?", are you referring to all graffiti or just knit graffiti, and is your concern about the polyester yarn or the quality of the knitting itself?

Each sample of yarn bombing is a perfect expression of the knitter.

I am pleased to be a part of North Vancouver Arts Council's knit graffiti sessions. We teach and encourage one another and share insights into knitting and life. A particularly weighty subject of discussion was about suffragettes. Did you know after being forcefed by tubes because they were starving themselves for autonomy, they were isolated in tiny cells knitting wool socks for men?

There are many groups who knit warm garments and blankets for the homeless, as you suggest. With your concerns regarding the "poor souls" in winter, I would be more than happy to show you how to knit at the biweekly

knit graffiti sessions, so that you too could knit for one of these worthwhile causes.
