Dear Editor:
Last Saturday night I hosted my wife's 50th birthday party in our Delbrook home. For this milestone I went a little overboard with a very talented local band (The Young Executives . . . you rock), because she means everything to me. I was certainly surprised to see the police arrive at 9: 45 p.m. and tell us to take the volume way down and shut it off at 11 p.m. I understand the bylaws, and I also understand the police were doing their job, but it seems a little by the book on a Saturday night. How many teenager or 20-something parties have we endured until 3: 30 a.m. with fighting, swearing, broken bottles? We were tame. Loud yes, but tame. We had four visits by the police (five vehicles the last time) and the fire department in tow. I think we received three $90 tickets (I was prepared to budget $1,000, just so you didn't think your anonymous phone calls to the police would deter us from having a little fun and keeping you up a little later than normal once in 21 years). Too bad the paddy wagon deterred me. Let me know if you want to attend her 60th.
