Tree cutting a travesty

Dear Editor: In regards to your recent story about the removal of trees from Capilano River Regional Park (RCMP Investigate Park Tree Cutting, Feb. 22), my wife and I grew up on the North Shore with parks being a large part of our lives.

Dear Editor:

In regards to your recent story about the removal of trees from Capilano River Regional Park (RCMP Investigate Park Tree Cutting, Feb. 22), my wife and I grew up on the North Shore with parks being a large part of our lives. Trees are a huge part of our community, and this includes Capilano Canyon. I realize people pay a great deal of money for their residences and want a view of everything, but why take away from everyone else?

We've seen trees set ablaze, the public washroom at Cleveland Dam torched, even a stolen SUV crashed through the filtration access gate into the fisheries area, but when someone selfishly and deliberately cuts down trees belonging to the people of North Vancouver, that's gone too far.

I sincerely hope this person is charged and convicted of a serious crime. I hope the culprit is faced with the entire cost of cleanup and replacement of our trees.

To the person who did this: If you don't like trees, move out of my province.
