The kindness of strangers in the rain

Dear Editor:

I was riding my bike in the pouring rain from Vancouver to Deep Cove. Just before the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Crossing (on the Vancouver side) I got a flat tire.

Two men (from Edgemont Village and West Vancouver), also cyclists, stopped to help me repair my bike in the pouring rain. They tried to fix my bike for at least 20 minutes and another cyclist stopped to offer his patch kit.

Unfortunately, the rim on my bike was broken, so no tube or tire repair would fix my bike.

I pushed my bike over the bridge and so many other cyclists offered to help along the way.

Then, walking my bike along Dollarton Highway, another very kind man pulled his car over and put my bike on the roof rack of his car and drove me right to my doorstep!

What was a horrible day of a broken bike in the rain, turned into such a nice day with so much generosity and kindness from so many people I did not know.

I wanted to share a very special thank you to the first two men from Edgemont Village and West Vancouver, they were so kind.
