Dear Editor:
North Shore Rescue recently received $100,000 in B.C. Gaming Grant Funds. This immediately went to what we had requested: new generation portable radios for every member and a replacement helicopter rescue kit - vital parts of enabling us to do what we do.
These funds did not come easily; it took the combined effort and tenacity of our four MLAs Jane Thornthwaite, Naomi Yamamoto, Joan McIntyre and Ralph Sultan to articulate and champion our needs. To these very fine and hardworking people our deepest gratitude.
Our four North Shore MLAs have taken the time to meet and understand what we do in very austere conditions and often with no luxury of back up during highly specialized search and rescue operations.
They get it, and we thank them for being there for us.
