Teachers doing their job in WV

Dear Editor:

I would like to respond to Ms. Audain's Dec. 14 letter, Parents Rights Ignored by Teachers' Job Action.

I am a secondary teacher in West Vancouver. Every single one of my students received a detailed progress report with all of the marks they achieved for the term and their final term one grade. The "official" report card may have been blank, but the real reporting still happened. In fact, parents received more detail than they would have on a "normal" report card. Nothing has changed for my students. The parents of West Vancouver have not been "denied a tool for evaluating their child's progress," in fact it's business as usual if it concerns the education and welfare of our students. Their education and future are a top priority and in no way is the current job action impacting their achievement or performance. The teachers of West Vancouver continue to do their job despite the lack of respect they receive from the board, superintendent and bargain team with respect to contract negotiations.
