Dear Editor:
I would like to add clarity to your editorial, "Request Stop" (North Shore News, June 13) about proposed termination of TransLink's TaxiSaver program, which provides discount taxi rides to seniors and people with disabilities.
The decision on the TaxiSaver program is on hold. I stated this fact at TransLink's annual general meeting on May 30 and reiterated it again directly to stakeholders on June 12. The AGM video and my message are online at translink.ca.
We have started a consultation process to work together with additional stakeholders, TaxiSaver users, HandyDART users as well as seniors and people with disabilities, who use the conventional system. We will have open, transparent and meaningful dialogue about concerns and ideas on the TaxiSaver program and other accessible transit needs to find workable, costeffective and sustainable solutions for accessible transit.
