Street music not the enemy

Dear Editor:

I have often passed and often stopped to listen to the talented Ms. Regehr - featured on the cover of your Aug. 5 issue - while she is performing (Busker Takes on City Noise Bylaws, North Shore News). Her music is very subtle and moderate in sound level. A few steps away, you do not hear her; there is no "noise" problem at all.

I am amazed that the city is wasting time with such harassment. Ms. Regehr is actually a plus on our summer streets. I am puzzled at this petty bungling while, particularly in summer, our eardrums are shattered by unmuffled motorcycles that operate with impunity. A thousand Ms. Regehrs could not even come close to them.

Pick on them Mr./Ms. Bylaws Officer, and do some real good for our city and our nerves.
