Dear Editor:

Thank you North Shore News and community.

Your decision to cover our missing barbecue caper in such a clever way with Mike Wakefield's great photo and eye-catching headlines resulted in an amazing outpouring of community generosity. By the Thanksgiving weekend we had so much to give thanks for. Robert made a cash donation, Christine offered to shop with us at Canadian Tire, Kim checked to see if we were covered and many people called the church with offers of second-hand barbecues and an identical Weber received as a gift, to be re-gifted.

Your kindness has helped restore our faith in the folks on the North Shore. The Grinch may have stolen the barbie, but certainly didn't steal the day! Your article touched the hearts of many folks. Thank you North Shore News.

This past week was homeless week. We served 99 meals at North Lonsdale United Church on Tuesday night and had a full house at our Thursday lunch program. Our team of volunteers are so dedicated, and work hard to make our community a kinder place. If you would like to join us as a guest, volunteer or donor, just let us know. You will be most welcomed.

Thank you all for being part of our success.
