Standing ovation for Presentation House

Dear Editor: Regarding your rather undeserved critique of Presentation House's production of Norm Foster's fabulous, timeless play, Old Love (Charm Not Enough To Carry Old Love, North Shore News, Dec. 9): Outdated? Don't take it personally.

Dear Editor:

Regarding your rather undeserved critique of Presentation House's production of Norm Foster's fabulous, timeless play, Old Love (Charm Not Enough To Carry Old Love, North Shore News, Dec. 9):

Outdated? Don't take it personally. Amidst the perceived "comedy" part, the sadness of Molly's 34 loyal years by her late husband's side was palpable and brilliantly acted by Suzanne Ristic and equally brilliantly responded to by Vince Metcalfe's Bud. The two outstanding, seasoned actors are definitely not "cubic zirconias" (as you said), but real-life "precious gems," bringing us theatre that touches a nerve.

I could feel the truly deserved appreciation among the audience, at opening night on Dec. 2, and again yesterday, Saturday, Dec. 10 - I saw the play twice and enjoyed it immensely. Standing ovations, both times.

Remember theatre is life, cinema is art and television is furniture. So, hey, Presentation House theatre team, keep bringing us outstanding, daring theatre of the highest quality.

(Editor's note: The "cubic zirconia" reference in the review was applied to Norm Foster's script, not Suzanne Ristic or Vince Metcalfe - who are indeed outstanding actors.)
