Snowstorm lift was a gift

Dear Editor:

Christmas is upon us once again, and I couldn't help feeling that we had lost all sense in giving and generosity. Then, I was standing at a bus stop in the middle of the last week's snowstorm when a man pulled over and offered me a ride. A distant memory of my father telling me never to accept a ride from a stranger quickly went through my mind before I hurried into the car. I had been standing there for 45 minutes determined to get to work, my hands consequently numb. For the brief drive we chatted about his grandkids, which now go to the same high school that I graduated from years ago. We talked about our careers, past and present, and before I knew it, I was at my office. The sheer gratitude I felt towards him for being so kind as to go out of his way for me when he didn't even know me was amazing. This man restored the meaning of giving for me and made me so proud to be a lifelong resident of North Vancouver. He is a true example of the thoughtful people living in our city, and I didn't even manage to catch his name.
