Skunk problem just stinks

Dear Editor: I would like to know if I am the only resident on the North Shore to notice the increase in the skunk population? It is alarming to see so many dead ones on the streets as well as roaming through yards.

Dear Editor:

I would like to know if I am the only resident on the North Shore to notice the increase in the skunk population? It is alarming to see so many dead ones on the streets as well as roaming through yards. It costs a lot of money to have your dog de-skunked at the groomers and you can only hope it happens just once - but don't count on it.

I had to take my dog in for just that treatment after I tried to de-skunk him and my house unsuccessfully at another $50. While at the groomers, another customer told me that the district had brought skunks on to the North Shore three years ago so they would cut down on the rat problem. Well, now there's a skunk problem and it's time to do something about it. Round them up and relocate them at the district's expense or whomever's wise idea it was. Catching them in cages by the homeowner and having a company relocate costs approximately $100. It all adds up to big bucks.
