More than 50 Canadians are in the running to put down roots on the red planet as part of Mars One, a non-profit scrambling to raise $6 billion in seed money. Cynics might foresee spaceships sitting on cinder blocks with For Sale signs affixed to space windshields. And sure, wiseguys might say the interplanetary outpost look like a Tralfamadorian trailer park. Still, we salute the bold souls willing to venture into the stars and live their lives as strangers in a strange land.
